In this tutorial you will learn how to create full width page template, full width headers and full width sections with elementor page builder. Also you will learn how to re-use or re-apply them without any extra effort. All you need is the blankslate theme, custom css plug-in and the elementor plug-in.
Have a look at the page below, it has a full width header, with call to action buttons. Now lets begin to learn how to create full width headers and full width page templates for Elementor plugin. To install Blankslate — Go to Apperance — Then click on themes — Then click on add new — In the search box type Blankslate and press the enter key — then click on install button — once installed click on the activate button.
Ok lets proceed to Step 2: Lets install Elementor plug-in, from the dashboard, go to plug-ins, click on add new, type elementor and click on install — then activate. Now lets us try creating a page say the home page. Once you go to the editing mode with elementor, click on add new section, then select full width layout as shown below:. It would be better to watch the video for complete instructions for using various elements of elementor plugin.
Since its difficult showing all steps and sequences as pictures and words, I would strongly recomend you to watch the video. Step 4: We have to customize blankslate theme in order to have a complete blank page or template.
After this step you will get a blank template or page with very minimal settings which will enable us to create full width sections, full width page or full width header. We need to hide unwanted elements such as title, search, posts comments etc. Lets have a look at the page.
Step 5: Stretching the section to full width Although we have hidden the elements in step 4, we still see the margins. Now lets test it. Also you could learn how to save the sections and page as template for re-use.
Step 6: Saving the sections and page as template for re-use I am extremely sorry, I could not put all the actions into to words and pictures. So I insist you to watch the video. If I would try then it would become not less than 20 to 25 page with approximately words. Subscribe my youtube channel If you like to support and encourage me make more such tutorials. See you all with another useful tutorial. I also used the code and nothing has changed.
I do have full width page, but all the other elements such as title, search, posts comments etc are still appearing on the webpage. Can you please help? Hi could you let me know when you are online.

Elementor full width tutorial: How to create full width header and full width blank page template with Elementor page builder In this tutorial you will learn how to create full width page template, full width headers and full width sections with elementor page builder. Step 1: Install Blankslate Theme To install Blankslate — Go to Apperance — Then click on themes — Then click on add new — In the search box type Blankslate and press the enter key — then click on install button — once installed click on the activate button.
Now after the installation of Blankslate, let us check how the site looks like.Hi, I tried to use Elementor on my site which has a content with of px. I entered this width in the settings, but still there is a 10px padding when I use ELementor on the left and right of the content, so the content is not aligned with my header and footer content.
How can I remove this left and right padding? Hi, thanks for your replies. My website is in development stage and not live yet. I do not have any plugins besides Woocommerce, and the theme is Ascend Free. If I use. I suspect some styling of your theme is overwriting the Elementor styles.
Would you try switch to the free OceanWP theme please, see if that works? A few screenshots of the settings and how the site looks front end might be helpfull too. I see what you mean, when I set Elementor to stretch the section, both sides fit to the screen nicely, but the gab between the rows is gone too. That way you can work around it, but not very good for workflow if you need to do this on every column.
NOTE: Grids where you choose columns are designed for px width. If you make the width larger the columns may increase beyond what your settings say to fill that much space. That explains the issue I quess? Again that does not happen with my preferred theme OceanWP.
I did not get in depth with this theme, if you want to keep using it, you might ask their support, because this is not an Elementor issue but theme related as far as I can tell. Thanks, but the theme specifically has different options for content width, and I am not talking about full-width — my setting is to px, and with Elementor, there is a 10px padding on the left and on the right. The theme is supposed to be working with Elementor, they even suggest the plugin once you install it.
I guess I will have to ask the theme developer. When you add content columns with Eelemntor there is a margin left and right, what makes the content columns not alligned with the header? I think this is what you want?GitHub is home to over 40 million developers working together to host and review code, manage projects, and build software together.

I have searched the Issues and have not found a request for this but I am certain it was posted a while back. Anyway, what would be super beneficial is the ability to manually input the values for the column widths, as opposed to the current method of dragging the column handles; not very accurate in most circumstances.
Yeah I remember seeing it too. I still have daily issues with drag and drop fairly frequently mega bounce or just can't find the spot easily and occasionally custom CSS breaks ability to use the builder so I have to prefix everything with body: not. Did you set the section as a full height Fit to Screen? Currently section with full height is not supported in Mobile. That'd be much better than forcing pixel based measurements.
How to Control Responsive Column Layouts in Elementor—REVISITED
I have been requesting a fix for this for weeks now, and I am one among several others. This problem does not occur in Beaver Builder and so it is possible to have working correctly. There are a lot of write ups about how to solve the performance issues with backgound-size: cover and background-attachment: fixed. Essentially it involves moving background images to a :before or :after pseudo element and adding the newish will-change: transform; property.
I appreciate the workaround. However, I do not want to mess around with it - I just want Elementor to work. I don't recall reading anything prior to buying the pro version that mentioned "section with full height is not supported in Mobile". I wouldn't have bought an allegedly "pro" version knowing it was incomplete. NOTE: I think I was a little harsh writing the following paragraph - I have seen since there has been acknowledgement and work possibly moving forward with the issue I am complaining about.
Crossing my fingers it won't be long now before a fix is completed. My apologies to the devs. I have left the paragraph I wrote prior so people will see what I am apologizing for. I have frankly given up on the whole thing having brought it up repeatedly with seemingly little acknowledgement or interest in fixing it.
Especially seeing requests for a fix closed off without a fix being made. At one point I had created my own test site just to see which of my top three fave builders did the best job overall using similar layouts - note that this was a test directed at vertical mobile display:.GitHub is home to over 40 million developers working together to host and review code, manage projects, and build software together.

I made a full page header section very easily by making the section height "fit to screen" and adding a fixed background image. Is this a bug? Or am I doing something wrong? I can't find any other settings built in so I'll probably have to write some custom CSS to override it. You are right. Let me try to break it down:. To achieve the fit-to-screen look we use the css value height: vh. This works quite well in desktop. However, in mobile, it often results in the content overflowing beyond the section's height.
This is why we currently do not have a solution for fit to screen in mobile. Any suggestions for resolving this problem would be most welcomed. Thanks joshmarom. I just added a custom class to that section and gave it height: vh which is ok for the most part. It actually just zooms into the background image's center which worked well but for some some reason the image I put in the center of the content was moved up to the top.
How to set the width to Elementor section *not* browser width
It's actually a good error though because, in my opinion, it looks good at the top on mobile. Here is the site I'm suing it on. It's just a one page experiment for now while I build out the rest.
In the next version 1. I think it will solve your problem. Is this something that is now NOT available? I am encountering these same hurdles, but other than setting some margin in Mobile at the top of the section to move things down a bit - I don't seem to have any way to adjust this in mobile VS desktop!Did the builder ever scare you?
We would love to create layouts that we know is possible and without great effort. No need to worry about the responsiveness and how easy it is because I assure you, they are. Before anything else, let me show what our final product will look like. Everything should run smoothly as long as you follow the following steps. Step 1 Create a section with two columns and set the section width to full width.
This will serve as the background for the text column side of the layout. Although you could also add the background to the column itself if you prefer. Set the Widget Space to 0. For the column with the image, set the padding to 0. Step 4 Add in the text on the text column and add the image to the right. There you have it! The section will now be responsive and will show the whole image in smaller screens.

We also have a tutorial on how to reverse column order in Elementor. If you have any other questions, please let us know in the comments sections.Master the Columns in Elementor
Please may you let me know how I can adjust the height of the image without altering the width. With thanks. Crop the height is the only reasonable way to adjust the height to make it shorter. If I understood correctly, on desktop the text and image sits side-by-side. In order to make the image expand with the container and not in proportion to its original dimension, it is added as a background image.

Thanks for a great plugin. We are considering moving from Visual Composer to Elementor in our projects, so we are currently trying your plugin. We are having issues with the content of columns having a padding so the text is not aligned to other elements on the page, like header logo, post-title, footer-columns, etc.
Here is an example:.
how to resize column section?
In my opinion, Visual Composer does this better, as the column content is aligned to elements outside the content-area. In my tests I've found the main reason for this to be the default section width which is set at px. The aligment is more noticeable if the theme's default content width is greater than that of the plugin.
I've been resolving this by increasing the section width to match that of my themes which tend to be set at px as a default width. In my opinion the inner content of the first column in a row column should be aligned to the container that holds the Elementor elements.
The actual problem is when you have columns gap. Here's the explanation:. The reason I consider this as an issue is that every time a user changes the gap size, user needs to adjust the content width option to get the same alignment as other sections. I think this is quite a problem for end users. Every time they changed the columns gap, they have to do a little math to adjust the content width accordingly. It would be a lot easier if whatever the columns gap value is, users will always see their text width matching the content width setting in the example case is px.
They don't have to adjust the content width again. Don't you think so? The issue I see is when you start building slightly more complex layouts.
The gutters aren't all the same width. If we have 3 columns with default spacing between them, the middle column will always look like double as it's taking the left and right column gutter.
It would be ideal if we just had equal guttering around each column. I'm having a hard time trying to build up some more advanced grid designs.
For instance, in the design below, I am looking to make a grid using columns and background images. The problem begins with using nested columns in certain areas as the gutters won't work equally. I'm having the same problem as daviedR. I have a section with a full width colour background. This section contains a nested 1 column widget and a 3 column widget both inside the same parent section with the coloured background. The vertical left and right edges of these 2 sets of columns line up perfectly with each other.
The CSS daviedR posted works perfectly. Hi enkota .
